Senior Legal Analyst
Ray Spruell serves as Senior Legal Analyst at Meredith Bush Law, bringing more than three decades of legal and judicial experience to the firm’s research, writing, case analysis, and strategy.
Ray began his legal career as a law clerk to two justices of the South Dakota Supreme Court. Since then, he has served as a deputy prosecutor, in-house corporate counsel, private-practice attorney, public defender, district judge, and senior attorney with the State of Florida’s Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco.
During his career, Ray has handled hundreds of civil, criminal, and administrative matters and has served as lead counsel in more than 60 jury trials. He also spent approximately 16 years with the Arkansas Public Defender Commission, where he managed attorneys and support staff while carrying a substantial caseload. His experience on the bench and on both sides of the courtroom gives him a practical and well-rounded approach to legal analysis and advocacy.
Ray earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and participated in a summer law program at The Queen’s College, University of Oxford. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas.
Ray is licensed to practice in Arkansas and before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas. He serves the firm as a Senior Legal Analyst while preparing to pursue admission to The Florida Bar.
Ray, his wife, and their children are originally from Arkansas and have lived in Santa Rosa County since 2023. They enjoy exploring the Panhandle, visiting the beach, fishing, watching their sons play sports, and supporting the Pensacola Blue Wahoos and UWF Argonauts. But their hearts still belong to the Arkansas Razorbacks.
